The program includes:
Active full-group rehearsals and technique-building sessions on traditional mariachi instruments (vihuela, guitarrón, violin, guitar, trumpet, and voice) and non-mariachi instruments alike...Whatever instrument you play, you CAN participate!
Instructional breakouts with musical mentors from across Colorado
Keynote presentations on the tradition and historical evolution of mariachi music
Intergenerational learning opportunities
A featured performance in the Klein Music Tent as part of the AMFS's Mariachi Celebration on July 2
An optional Mariachi Development training for music educators, high school juniors/seniors, university/college, administrators, and adult participants on Sunday, July 29
Fun, friendship, community building and more!
Eligibility:
For musicians students with at least 1 year of experience on their instrument
Student Participants: Incoming 5th graders – High School (incoming 4th graders considered on a case-by-case basis)
Adult Participants and Music Educators: All ages
No prior mariachi experience necessary!
